FALL 2023 STUDENT LOAN SERVICER CALL-IN DAY:

On September 14, at 2 PM ET, borrowers across the country called our student loan servicers. With repayment underway, we looked to stress test President Biden's new 'SAVE' plan to make sure it's working for borrowers!

OUR RESULTS SHOWED:

THE STUDENT LOAN SYSTEM IS NOT READY FOR REPAYMENT.

Student loan servicers showed us that they are unable to provide borrowers with accurate, timely, basic information.

**Borrowers can bypass servicers and enroll in the President’s ‘SAVE’ plan here.

**You can calculate how much you will owe each month here.

When attempting to call their servicers, many borrowers experienced issues getting simple answers. They documented these issues via social media or by sending us a message (see below). Some also filed complaints with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Department of Education, a state Attorney General, or their state student loan ombuds.

IF YOU HAVE A STORY ABOUT A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE, IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO TELL US WHAT HAPPENED!

If you haven't called your servicer, but would like to, find their number below:

“What would I pay every month in President Biden’s new SAVE plan?”

“Can I get Public Service Loan Forgiveness?”

“What is the IDR Account Adjustment?”

“When do I have to start making payments again?”

“When does President Biden’s on-ramp end?”

THANK YOU!

Thank you for helping us document how the restart to payments is going (hint: bad) and the multitude of problems that borrowers are experiencing.

Borrowers deserve a functioning student loan system!
